On 15 September, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, a Free Health Check-up and Awareness Program was organized at our Church Hall by the Health Commission and Catholic Stree Sangatan/Fathima Maha Sangha pernal unit
The program was graced by our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jerome Monteiro, PPC Secretary Mrs. Cynthia Pinto, Govlik Commission Coordinator Mrs. Flavia Dsouza, and Fatima Maha Sangha Coordinator Mrs. Jacintha Dsa.
Fr. Jerome delivered an inspiring message on the theme “Health is Wealth.”
The session included several informative talks:
• Dr. Srinivas Pai from Nitte Hospital gave valuable insights on Diabetes, explaining how it can be controlled through proper diet and regular exercise. He also guided the participants on the right kind of food choices.
• Mr. Dinesh Suvarna from Nitte Hospital spoke about the challenges faced by teenagers due to drug addiction, the risks of HIV infection, and the availability of treatment for HIV.
• Mrs. Shilpa Acharya from Nitte Hospital created awareness on Anaemia, Breast Cancer, Uterine Cancer, Menstruation, and Menopause. She explained how to detect breast cancer at home, maintain personal hygiene during menstruation, and the types of food to consume to prevent anaemia and promote overall health.
A total of 53 members actively participated in this program.
The welcome speech was delivered by Mrs. Jyothi Aranha, Health Commission Convenor, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Hilda Castelino, President of Catholic Stree Sangatan.
