Every year the Fourth Sunday of Easter, commonly known as Good Shepherd Sunday is observed as World Day of Prayer for Vocations. On this occasion, on 8th May 2022 the Commission for Seminary and Religious Formation of our parish prepared and led special liturgy during the 8 a.m. Mass. In the Introduction to the Mass, Sr. Jennet Rego invited us to deepen our relationship with God and pray specially to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his vineyard to spread God’s kingdom on earth. Eucharistic Mass was celebrated by Fr. Richard Quadras OFM Cap as a main celebrant along with Fr. Jerome Monterio, Fr. Pascal Menezes, Fr. Henry Mendonca and Fr. Preetham Mendonca. Rev.Fr.Richard Quadras OFM Cap. In his Homily, highlighted the characteristics of a Good Shepherd who leads gently and our responsibility to listen to his voice.
During the Prayer of the Faithful, Mrs. Rosaline Gomes, a member of the commission prayed for all those who shepherd the people of God in the Church. She specially offered prayers for priests and religious brothers and sisters that they live in joy and find fulfillment in their consecrated life. Alternating, Sr. Pauline Pereira prayed that the families in their homes create an environment where God’s call can be heard. She also prayed that the parents and those involved in faith formation ministry in the schools encourage the students to respond to the Divine call.
After the Communion, Venessa Rachel Gomes, implored Jesus to choose new apostles from the youth today and fill their hearts with love and great desire to follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Thus bring God’s Kingdom in our midst.
In the Words of Pope Francis, let us pray, that the People of God, amid the dramatic events of history, may increasingly respond to this call. Let us implore the light of the Holy Spirit, so that all of us may find our proper place and give the very best of ourselves in this great divine plan! Amen.
