Celebration of the memorial Feast of our Lady of Lourdes. (Grotto Festh)

The parish today celebrated the feast of our Lady of Lourdes. Mother Mary’s apparition in a place called ‘Lourdes’ in the city of France. This feast is popular in the Roman Catholic Church because mother Mary appears eighteen times to a fourteen year old girl named in Bernadette Soubirous on February 11, 1858.

Rev. Fr James D’Souza SDB, Administrator, Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shirva was the main celebrant. Preaching a dashing homily he said God doesn’t keep his eyes closed during all the evil that happening around us. Wars and hatred roares around the world and God sends different people as messengers as peace makers. Mary is one such person of God through her apparitions in different places announces the message of prayer, sacrifice and Penance. The message of prayer and more specifically the Rosary given by Mary herself is great offering we make to the triune God.

Fr James D’Souza SDB also gave an exclusive description of the apparition of Mary and the miraculous font at Lourdes.

Rev Fr Pascal Menezes joined the concelebration. There was a candle light procession around the campus to mark the celebration.

Mrs Cynthia Pinto, Secretary of PPC, Mr Arun D’Souza, Vice President of PPC, Mrs Flavia D’Souza, head of the ecclesiastical commissions, Sr Janet Rego SSpS, and Parish council members were present.

All present were served with parting snacks and cold drinks.
