
Fatima Church, Pernal Celebrates the Feast of the Assumption and 80th Independence Day

The parishioners of Fatima Church, Pernal, came together in faith and patriotism on 15th August to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary along with the 80th Independence Day of India.
The day began with the solemn Eucharistic Celebration in honour of the Assumption of Mother Mary, presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves. In his homily, Fr. Ferdinand reflected on the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, calling the faithful to lead lives of humility, service, and devotion while also being responsible citizens committed to the welfare of the nation. The members of the parish conducted the entire liturgy. A special prayer was offered for the country, remembering the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and seeking God’s blessings for peace, unity, and prosperity.
At the end of the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves extended his heartfelt wishes to all the parishioners on the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and the 80th Independence Day of India.
Following the Mass, the Indian National Flag was hoisted by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, in the church premises. After saluting the National Flag, the National Anthem was sung. The ceremony was compered by Mrs. Anitha Lobo, who also delivered the welcome address and the vote of thanks. Mrs. Anita Lobo A special Independence Day speech was delivered by Rev. Fr. A large number of parishioners participated in the celebrations, including Parish Council Vice President Mrs. Leena D’Souza, Secretary Mrs. Cynthia Pinto, Pastoral Commission Coordinator Mrs. Jyothi Aranha, Sr. Jessy Joseph, Superior of Krapalaya Convent, the Krapalaya Convent Sisters, Parish Council members, and other dignitaries.
The celebrations concluded with the distribution of sweets to all the parishioners, fostering fellowship and joy among the faithful.
