Feast of Our Lady’s Nativity

Nativity of our Lady brings along a lot of sentiments of belonging to a loving family, a nostalgic place called Pernal, and above all the festive family meal of age old tradition.

This feast is celebrated with a lot fervour, devotion and festivities to Mary our devine Mother in heaven.

In a solemn high Mass Fr Pascal Menezes preached a mind blowing homily and brought out three major traits of Mother Mary:

• Mary in our celebration
• Mary in the scripture
• Mary in our family

He narrated mother Mary’s presence in our families, scriptures and in today’s celebration. He called upon them faithful not miss the Rosary. Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest was the main celebrant.

A nine day novena to Infant Mary was conducted in her honour and as preparation to Nativity feast. Children and adults flocked to the church with flowers to honour baby Mary.

The day also marks the harvest festival and the church as a community thanked God for blessing us with new corn, fruits and vegetables.

The new corn was blessed and distributed to the faithful along with plenty of Sugarcane sticks to carry home .

Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest thanked all those responsible for the arrangements for the feast and various individuals who sponsored various items thus supported the parish economically.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions conducted by the parish youth club.
