Lenten Retreat – 2026

One who learns to carry the Cross of Christ learns to forgive proposed Rev Fr Basil Vaz, Parish Priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Vorkady, Kasaragod. Forgiveness, chastity and love of the poor and the enemy makes the Church grow in multiple folds from centuries he stressed.

He was preaching on the culmination of a three day retreat for the parishioners.

The beauty of the Catholic Church is the service we provide to the needy and that’s why Catholicism grows in spite of persecution in the world he narrated. Therefore he called upon everyone to be hospitable and of charitable in attitude and love everyone who needs it Fr Vaz stressed.

On all three days the spiritual renovation process included praise and worship, adoration and followed by Mass. The sacrament of reconciliation was administered on the last day.

Prayers were offered for our parishioners abroad, parents, children, sick, addicted and members of PPC and various ecclesiastical commissions in the Church.

Besides Fr Basil Vaz, Mr Simon Pais, Mr Elias Coelho and Mrs Sylvia Coelho assisted in singing and music.

Rev Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest thanked Fr Basil Vaz and his team for their spiritual marvel through retreat. Mrs Leena Dsouza, Vice President of PPC offered observations on behalf of the parish and proposed a vote of thanks.

The parishioners had an excellent spiritual exercise and renewal these three days.
