Pastoral Visit to our Church
Pernal: It was a joyous event for the entire parish of Fatima Church, Pernal to receive Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo for the Pastoral Visit from 4th June to 6th June 2022. Rev Fr. Jerome Monterio the Parish Priest, Fr. Pascal Menezes the Resident Priest, Richard Mendonca the Vice President, Leena DSouza, the Secretary Parish Pastoral Council, Garlanded the Bishop at the entrance of church gate and welcomed along with Convent Sisters, newly Confirmation Candidates, Altar Servers, ICYM, YCS members, representatives from various Associations of the parish and a large number of parishioners and later through a grand procession accompanied him to the church at 3.30pm on 4th June 2022.The parishioners assembled in large numbers to witness this three days’ historical event. After the formal welcome, the Bishop visited both the old and new cemeteries, blessed and offered prayers. At 4.45 PM he taken the exam for the eligible confirmation candidates. Later at 6.00 pm he had a meeting with the Parish Financial Council members and the day was concluded after this meeting .
On 5th June 2022, Sunday at 8 am Bishop Rev. Dr. Gerald Issac Lobo celebrated the Holy Eucharist Mass along with Parish Priest Fr. Jerome Monterio and Resident Priest Fr. Pascal Menezes. A total of 35 students were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the Bishop preached on the importance of family life. At the end he is given general catechetical instructions to all the Parishioners.
After the Mass at 10am, he along with Parish Priests and Parishioners planted 1st batch of Arecanut plants on our church compound. Thereafter he met the missionary society of Infant Jesus, Alter servers and Girls Sodality.
At 10.30 am, he had a meeting with ICYM and YCS Members.
At 11.30 am, he had a meeting with Parish Pastoral Council Members, Twenty commission Promoter and Coordinators.
At 3.00 pm he met with Catholic Sabha, Tertiary Office Bearers and members of S.S.V.P
At 3.30 pm he had a meeting with Catechism Teachers.
At 4.00 pm he had a meeting with Catholic Stree Sangatan members.
Later at 4.30 pm he participated in the Small Christian Community (SCC) meeting at the Residence of Edward DSa, Fatima ward along with priests, Vice President and Secretary. He interacted with the ward members gathered in the ward and advised him how we have to serve the church and its interests.
On Monday the 6th June he offered Holy Mass at 7.00 am at Krapalaya Convent, and thereafter he interacted with the Sisters of the Convent.
At 9.00 am he visited the bedridden sick people of St. Joseph Ward along with Parish Priest Fr. Jerome Monterio and ward Gurkar Leena DSouza. First he Visited the Residence of Evelyn Barboza and then the Residence of Remeza Barboza, He Prayed for them and serve the blessed Holy communion. He also interacted with them for few minutes about their health and other issues.
At.10.30 am he had a meeting with Legion of Mary (Seniors).
At. 11.00 am he had a final meeting at Church Office with Parish Priest, Resident Priest, Vice President, Secretary, 20 commission Coordinator and other Members.
Later in the evening he left to the Bishop House.
