Seventy years anniversary of the parish and the birth of Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest and 40 years of Priesthood – Saththar Sambhram and Salis Charanam.

A priest is the one who doesn’t get tired of loving Christ and His people said most Rev Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of the diocese of Udupi facilitating Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest, Our Lady of Fatima Church Pernal on his Ruby Jubilee of his ordination and 70 years of life. A priest is the only person who loves the people of God even if he is not loved in return he added. The seventy years of establishing the Parish also added colours to the celebration.

An eucharistic celebration preceded the felicitation ceremony and Fr Pascal Menezes preaching a dashing homily said life worth lived for God and people is not wasted, but yields in gaining souls for Christ.

Rev Fr Basil Vas, Parish Priest, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Vorkady, Kasaragod raising the toast for the Jubilarian applauded and appreciated Fr Jerome Monteiro for his extraordinary efforts in keeping people united and his earnestness in faith formation.

Sr Gloria Monteiro AC, Headmistress, St Agnes High School, Mangalore, the sister of the Jubilarian falicitated him with words and flowers.

The parish gurkars joined the Bishop and other dignitaries in facilitating Fr Jerome Monteiro.

The Parish choir sung the felicitation song and Prof Anil Danthy read the Citation. The gathering was served with a fellowship banquet after the program.

During the program the collection and creation of hymns by Fr Pascal Menezes ‘Kurpe Shivor’ (Showers of Grace) was released in media (Pendrive) format.

In the beginning Mrs Violet Lobo welcomed the gathering and Mrs Cynthia Pinto, Secretary PPC proposed a vote of thanks. Mrs Roseline Gomes and Prof Anil Danthy compered the program.

Sr Pauline Pereira SSpS, Superior, Kripalaya Convent, Mr Arun Dsouza, Presidents PPC, Mrs Flavia Dsouza, Convener of ecclesiastical commissions, guest priests, religious sisters, donors, benefactors special invitees from other parishes, family members of Fr Jerome and parishioners were present.
