Christmas was celebrated with renewed vigour with great devotion in Our Lady of Faima Church on Saturday, 24th December at. 7.00 pm with the singing of Carols by church choir and thereafter Mass, ‘Poverty of kindness is more severe than the poverty of wealth’- said Very Rev. Fr Victor George D’Souza, Chancellor, Diocese of Mangalore in his homily at our Lady of Fatima Church Pernal. He was the main celebrant at the Christmas vigil mass. He was relating the concept of the term poor to the birth of Jesus in the manager.
Rev Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest, Rev Fr Pascal Menezes and Rev Fr Anand Castelino OFM.cap, concelebrated the vigil mass.
The ICYM Unit of the Parish conducted liturgy. The youngsters put up a ‘Santa show’ which included dance, cake and lucky dip draw sponsored by Marina Silks, Shirva. All these added to the festivities.
In his message to the parishioners Rev Fr Jerome Monteiro, Parish Priest wished everyone blessings of the newly born Jesus, especially on the sick and infirm and those parishioners away from the parish on work and other assignment.
Parishioners attended the mass in large numbers. After the mass everyone exchanged Christmas greetings.
